Assistant Director of Residential Services

Department: 200 - Residential Adiministration
Location: Albany, GA
Salary: $0 - $0 Per Hour

Job Summary:

Assist the Director of Residential services with daily program operations for the Residential Services Department including training, auditing, budget management and client services in all residential programs to achieve the mission of the organization.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Director in managing residential sites to ensure the program is organized, compliant, and operating according to Easter Seals Southern Georgiaís policies and procedures.
  • Insure that all new staff receives proper introductory training, orientation and completes continuing education requirements.
  • Coordinate hands on training for all new staff to train and cross-train at all programs location they will be assigned to work.      
  • Insure proper access to client records as needed for locations to work.
  • Identify areas of improvement and opportunities for training for all staff. Implement or coordinate with colleagues to implement effective training techniques to improve service delivery.
  • Assist Director of Residential Services with new client referrals, intake and evaluation and new location development to support growth of the department.
  • Review Individual Service Plans and client care plans to insure they match the needs of the clients served.
  • Complete Critical Incident Reporting and conduct Critical Incident Investigations as needed.
  • Monitor and oversee all cash log activities, appropriate use of client funds, personal spending and reporting procedures to ensure all funds are appropriately managed and maintained.  
  • Assist with ISP reviews and SIS meetings, when needed.
  • Make unannounced home visits to review and audit client charts and home environments.
  • Assist and monitor Exceptional Rates and approval processes for appropriate site locations, as required.
  • Insure that all staff maintains current required certifications including CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, Professional Certification and Licensing, TB clearance and Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  • Conduct visits to all properties for scheduled and unannounced review of operations.
  • Assess training needs and provide information to responsible parties to insure compliance.
  • Conduct additional trainings to improve service delivery for direct care staff as well as program managers.
  • Monitor and insure client health, safety, development and quality of care and services.
  • Maintain contact with clientís families, support coordinators, funding sources and other parties involved in clientsí services as needed and required.
  • Insure client satisfaction by assisting all in a timely and considerate manner.
  • Receive and return phone calls, greet and assist clients, families and others desiring service information and to address concerns as they arise in a timely manner.
  • Inspect, prepare and submit reports within the established deadline to the Director of Residential Services or other parties as designated.
  • Insure that all necessary documents (client history, medical information, doctorís notes, referral forms, care plans, etc.) are maintained in case files in a timely manner.
  • Review electronic documentation for each client as needed.
  • Review client goal tracking to insure that all services are provided and documented in accordance with client ISP when applicable.
  • Support clients in personal growth and development while respecting differences.
  • Insure all client rights are appropriately respected and honored as well as report any violations.
  • Insure submission of required documents to various departments as scheduled.
  • Manage and insure compliance of all client documentation and records.
  • Submit travel reimbursement for expenses while traveling to conduct business.
  • Complete continuing education as required for growth and development.
  • Follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule to insure client protected health information is secure.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of Easter Seals Southern Georgia policies and procedures.
  • In the absence of Residential Managers of the Director of Residential Services, may assume duties and responsibilities of these positions.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:

  • 24 hours a day / 7 days weekly availability for emergency situations.
  • Travel to multiple ESSG properties and community locations for client management, meetings and events, with travel up to 200 miles that may warrant occasional overnight stays within our geographic territory.
  • Ability to network within the community to create and maintain relationships for residential services.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and physically maneuver to properly secure clients and wheelchairs in vans for transport as needed.
  • Ability to speak publicly for various groups to advocate for ESSG mission, vision, values and clients.
  • Use of technology and office equipment including:  laptop, email, Smartphone, Microsoft Office Suite, scanner, fax, printer, PolicyStat system, THERAP system, Client Information System (CIS), Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) and other client records management systems. 


Job Specifications (Characteristics to perform successfully):

  • Extensive knowledge of residential services and developmental disability services in Georgia.
  • Exhibit a high standard of leadership to effectively manage the departmentís services.
  • Require and insure a high standard of client services from departmental team.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and execute expectations from different departments.
  • Maintain objectivity in position in order to set appropriate limits while working with clients and employees.
  • Work cooperatively and responsively with ESSG Leadership to ensure optimal care of clients.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with Clients, Families, Co-Workers and Community Members.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and exhibit organizational skills.
  • Support clients in personal growth and development while respecting differences.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Education, Sociology, Psychology or related field of study, Masterís degree preferred.
  • 3 years professional work experience in disability services.
  • 2 years professional work experience in management including departmental budgeting and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of state requirements and guidelines for residential services.
  • Valid Driverís License.
  • Pass background checks including: motor vehicle records check, criminal background check, pre-employment physical and drug screening.
